About On Drop Rate

On Drop Rate helps you check roughly how long you'd need to grind for an item, and whether you're actually dry right now, or just feeling like it.

We're passionate OSRS players, grinding since the game's 2013 release across multiple accounts and every seasonal game mode along the way.

This vibe-coded project is built and maintained by us.

Greetings from Team On Drop Rate.

Nightmare / Phosani's calculation

Each unique's listed rarity (e.g. 1/750 for the Inquisitor's mace) is the item's real per-kill chance, taken live from the wiki's drop table. On Phosani's Nightmare (solo) every roll belongs to you, so that rarity is used directly.

On the regular Nightmare (5-man), that same per-kill chance is for the whole party — when it hits, only one random party member (weighted by damage) actually receives the item. So your personal expected kills to land it is the listed rarity × 5 (e.g. 750 × 5 = 3,750 kills), which is what the time estimate on this page uses.

Is PNM actually faster for uniques?

Yes — Phosani's Nightmare (PNM) is substantially better for farming uniques, even compared with a regular 5-man Nightmare team. The important distinction is uniques per player, not just the boss's raw drop table.

Bottom line for the unique grind: PNM >>> 5-man Nightmare. A 5-man team is mainly attractive because it's chill, social and easier — not because it's efficient for your own Inquisitor/orb.

Kills per hour modifier
kills/hour

The Inquisitor's mace takes about
340 hours and 55 minutes to obtain if you are exactly on droprate.

Assumes a 5-man team at 12 kills/hour — only 1 random party member receives a drop when it rolls, so your personal expected kills is 5x the listed drop rate

at 11 kills/hour (average)

The time to obtain Inquisitor's mace at Nightmare (5-man), if you are exactly on drop rate, will be 468 hours and 45 minutes with beginner gear, 340 hours and 55 minutes with average gear and 312 hours and 30 minutes in max gear. That is about 3,750 kills on average.

Additional information

During this grind you will also be making roughly 7,812,734,681 gp in total loot — about 22,917,355 gp per hour at 11 kills per hour. The biggest earner over that stretch is Harmonised orb at about 2,074,161,942 gp.

Each kill has a 0.0267% chance at Inquisitor's mace. Half of all players get it within 2,599 kills, 8,634 kills covers 90%, and 17,268 kills covers 99% — so going past 3,750 kills without one is unlucky, but not unusual.
